Date: Monday 5th March, 2012 - Sunday 6th May, 2012
Start time: 9:00 AM
Duration: 33 hour(s)
Cost: £399

Royal Veterinary College

Provider: Royal Veterinary College

This online CPD course for veteirnary nurses will review and update anaesthesia and related physiology. The course is targeted at nurses who want to refresh their knowledge and investigate some of the recent advances in anaesthesia. It would also be suitable for student veterinary nurses who have some experience and have completed their anaesthesia modules of the NVQ level 3 course and are keen to develop this area of their clinical work. The course will provide a very practical approach to the realities of general practice with a strong focus on developing the role of the nursing profession in this key area of clinical work.

The course will run for nine weeks. You will be expected to log onto the website several times each week. It is anticipated that you will need to spend 2 to 3 hours a week depending on your current level of knowledge (and typing speed!) between private study and online activities.

Key areas to be covered:

Refresh your physiology - cardiovascular, respiratory and fluid balance
Monitoring patients: what your eyes and fingers tell you and what the toys can add
Pain - recognising it and controlling it
The anaesthetic period - admission to discharge
