On a daily basis the small animal Veterinary Nurse has a responsibility for the provision of safe anaesthesia and patient monitoring and usually delivers the majority of peri-operative care. Using an interactive approach and case based examples this course will outline how good quality anaesthesia and analgesia can be realistically achieved in practice. This course will develop your knowledge and skills in this vital area allowing you to perform this vital role effectively, competently and with the minimum of stress.
Topics to be covered will include:
• Intravenous fluid therapy – which one and how much?
• The ins and outs of breathing systems (‘circuits’)
• Recognising and dealing with pain
• Intra- and post-op anaesthetic complications
