Animal accommodation and handling, animal biology, animal health, welfare and behaviour, habitats, plus Functional Skills work experience. Students should have obtained 4 GCSEs at D or above including English or Science or a Level 1 course with Distinction and a real interest in animals. Students can more onto the BTEC National Diploma in Animal Horse Management or into careers with animals, e.g. in kennels, catteries, pet stores, re-homing centres and grooming parlours.
Who is it for?
This course will provide you with theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the care and welfare of unusual as well as familiar domestic animals such as cats, dogs, rabbits, tropical fi sh, birds, reptiles and small mammals. Visits are arranged to a range of zoos, parks, centres and businesses to expand students' knowledge of the sector.
