This one day lecture and hands-on practical course including cadaver surgery will assist veterinarians in understanding the basic principles for internal fixation of fractures by means of plates and screws. The course will focus on the most commonly used plates and the use of lag screws. Preoperative planning and common complications will be discussed. Plastic bones will be used as well as cadavers for demonstrating surgical approaches and fracture plating.
The course will be of interest to any veterinarian wishing to refresh their knowledge and understanding of the principles of this fixation technique. It would also be useful CPD for candidates enrolled on the RCVS CertAVP module Orthopaedic Surgery A (C-SAS.6).
