In this 5 part series, Nick Bacon focuses on surgical wound management techniques that are useful in everyday surgery as well as more advanced reconstructive surgery and surgical oncology.
***The cost of this course also includes unlimited access to vet-ecpd.com for 1 full month, allowing you to view hundreds of hours of certified CPD lectures on a huge variety of topics!**
The course will cover the basics of wound healing and skin anatomy, in order to then understand the principles behind local flaps, and tension relieving techniques, before moving onto the more advanced free skin grafts, axial pattern flaps, and distant direct flaps.
The course will also provide a grounding in surgical oncology principles, from which it is hoped an awareness of tumour biology will lead to improved surgical planning, and ultimately better decision-making for the patient.
Topics to be covered include:
-Flaps, grafts and tension-relieving techniques
– Why some wounds refuse to heal, and how some common reconstruction problems might be avoided.
-Surgical oncology principles and planning
-Common tumours in difficult locations and how best to deal with them including reconstruction in awkward places- the face, perineum, and lower extremities
