This course will review and update delegates on the topic of clinical nutrition of dogs and cats. An emphasis will be placed on the importance of the nurse\'s role in providing supportive
care in this key area of clinical work. There will be hands on practical sessions allowing nurses to become accustomed and confident in the placement and management of feeding tubes.
Specific areas to be covered
· The relationship between diet and disease, in particular the role of nutrition in
modifying, treating and managing disease
· Identification of patients requiring nutritional support
· Creating a nutritional plan for hospitalised patients
· Calculating patients’ nutritional need
· Assisted feeding techniques
