This two-day lecture and hands-on practical course, including a surgery practical on bone models, will assist veterinarians in understanding the most common orthopaedic pathologies and injuries in feline patients. The course will focus on the most common joint pathologies and fractures the veterinarian may encounter in cats, such as hock injuries, femoral neck fractures or sacroiliac luxations and pelvic fractures. The diagnosis, management and common complications seen will be discussed. Plastic bones will be used for demonstrating and practising surgical stabilisation of some of the fractures.
This course would be of interest to any veterinarian wishing to refresh their knowledge and practical skills in the management of orthopaedic injuries in cats. It would also be a useful CPD for candidates enrolled on the RCVS CertAVP module Orthopaedic Surgery A (C-SAS.6).
