Gastroenterology is a large field of internal medicine, which encompasses other specialities such as oncology, immunology, microbiology and nutrition. In this update on gastroenterology, the diagnostic approach and treatment options for various gut disorders will be discussed.
This will include discussion about the pathophysiology of certain clinical manifestations of gut disease (e.g. regurgitation, ileus), as well as non-gastrointestinal disorders which can also cause alimentary tract signs (e.g. pancreatic disease).
