Much of the diagnostic work sent to external laboratories could be done in-house, with the results obtained more quickly and cheaply. This practical day course will give you the confidence to look at urine and blood smears and achieve a diagnosis.The day will include a practical component with microscopy and blood smear production.
Specific areas to be covered
At the end of the course the delegates will be able to:
· Produce a blood smear
· Assess platelet numbers and clumping
· Perform a differential cell count for white blood cells
· Assess anaemia to determine regeneration or nonregeneration
· Identify Red blood cell variations
· Produce a urine slide
· Identify common urine crystals
