Veterinary CPD / Courses

Learn to read radiographs online

Date: Monday 15th October, 2012 - Sunday 25th November, 2012
Start time: 9:00 AM
Duration: 36 hour(s)
Cost: £699

Royal Veterinary College

Provider: Royal Veterinary College

During this online CPD course participants will enhance their knowledge in small animal radiology and their skill at reading radiographs. A large number of radiographic cases will be presented for individual study and group discussions to enable participants to share their experiences and to enhance their skills in assessing radiographs. The course would be useful CPD for veterinarians preparing for RCVS CertAVP C modules in diagnostic imaging (C-VDI.1, 2 and 3). Participants can earn up to 36 CPD hours if the course is fully completed.

Key areas:

During the course you will:

Develop an effective and practical technique for reading radiographs of dogs and cats (thorax, abdomen and musculoskeletal)

Practice your radiograph reading skills using a large number of radiographic cases (approximately 60) with reports available for each case

Experience common as well as challenging radiographic presentations

Assess your improvement in radiographic interpretation at appropriate intervals by use of on-line assessment exercises

The course will consist of a mixture of radiographic cases and assessments, downloadable reference sources, links to other useful websites and online discussions. It is designed to work around the varied and demanding schedules of the busy practitioner and is run entirely on-line with no need to travel to a distant venue or take time off work.

There is no need to log on at any particular time of the day or night so the course can be completed in your own time. However, you do need to be able to spend at least 5 hours per week on the course and log on several times per week to get maximum benefit. The course is worth up to 36 CPD hours if all activities are completed.

Once registered, all participants are issued with a unique ID, allowing them to log on at any time to a discussion board and various on-line tasks. Radiographic cases will be presented for individual study and group discussions to enable participants to share their experiences and to enhance their skills in assessing radiographs.

A copy of the radiographic images viewed online during the course is also provided on a CD sent with the course notes to each participant. Please note that if you are using an old non flat screen monitor with your PC this may not be adequate for viewing radiographs optimally therefore you may wish to try viewing the images on an alternative screen (e.g. at home, laptop).
