After a brief overview of the UK industry, this one-day course will explore the approach to the goat, alpaca and llama, including handling, and manual and chemical restraint. Special behavioural, anatomical and physiological features of each species will also be covered.

Anaesthesia regimes will be followed by common clinical and surgical procedures, such as drug administration including fluid therapy, blood sampling, disbudding and dehorning, castration and CSF collection.

The common medical presentations of anaemia, weight loss, skin disorders and urolithiasis will also be explored. After basic herd health aspects, the day will finish with caesarean section.

This course is ideal for practitioners with either no, or limited, goat and camelid experience, or those wishing to consolidated their knowledge.

The five key things delegates will learn from this course are:
* Confidence in approaching the goat or camelid patient
* The knowledge to carry out routine procedures
* How to form a diagnostic and management plan for common clinical presentations
* Basic herd health requirements and good prescribing practice
* The principles of performing a caesarean section
