This one day course will include detailed discussion on the common orthopaedic problems encountered in general practice using case based examples throughout.
Specific topics to be covered are:-
• The challenge of forelimb lameness – Where is the dog sore?
• Lameness evaluation, how to get the most from radiography, other tests, case examples of simple and more challenging cases.
• Walking the tightrope of cruciate disease - which technique should I use and how to avoid complications.
• Overview of CCL treatment: conservative, over – the- top, lateral suture, tightrope, TTA, TTO TPLO. Evidence of the benefits of the above. Tips on lateral suture technique eg isometry, use of bone anchors.
• Problem fractures – it looked so simple - Case examples of fractures including those requiring revision.
• New concepts in managing patellar luxation and how to avoid complications. Overview of theory behind patellar luxation. Clinical and radiographic assessment and choice of technique. Example cases of simple and more complex or revision cases
