Course Synopsis The aim of this practical course is to give qualified veterinary nurses or second year trainees the opportunity to learn more about practical wound management techniques as nurses are becoming increasingly involved in the management of wounds in small animal practice. In order to be able to carry out this role effectively, nurses require a good understanding of the wound healing process. Lectures will cover assessment of wounds, wound care, choice of dressing and suturing techniques. These will be complemented by case-based seminar sessions and a suturing practical, which will involve the use of synthetic materials rather than animal tissue.
