This two day lecture and case-based course is designed for any small animal practitioner, whether new graduate or experienced clinician working in an emergency centre, who sees and operates on soft tissue trauma patients. It will provide a multidisciplinary approach utilising a number of specialists to provide in depth knowledge on various aspects of managing soft tissue trauma. Participants will develop their knowledge and clinical decision making of the principles of triage/stabilisation, imaging, anaesthesia and surgical treatment of soft tissue trauma cases. Case studies will be presented, offering an opportunity for interactive problem-solving. The course would be also be useful CPD for veterinarians studying for RCVS CertAVP C modules in soft tissue surgery, anaesthesia, ECC and diagnostic imaging.

Participants may register for one or both days depending on their learning needs and budget.

Key areas:
• Stabilisation and initial critical care of traumatised patients
• Imaging the trauma patient
• Anaesthetising the trauma patient
• Surgical management of neck trauma, thoracic trauma and diaphragmatic hernia (Day 1)
• Surgical management of abdominal soft tissue trauma and extensive skin wounds (Day 2)
