Start time: 9:00 AM
Duration: 6 hour(s)

Royal Veterinary College

Provider: Royal Veterinary College

Diagnosing and treating thoracic limb lameness can be challenging and frustrating. Many dogs present with a similar history including minimal response to rest and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and increased lameness following exercise and heavy activity. This course will focus on the work-up of these cases from beginning to end starting with localisation on physical examination, progressing through diagnostics and finishing with treatments available complete with case-based illustrations of their use. The emphasis will be on the first-opinion work-up of these cases concentrating on what can realistically be achieved and performed in general practice, but will include an overview of more advanced options.

Participants will develop their knowledge and diagnostic skills through film-reading exercises leading on to case-based discussion. The course will be of interest to any practitioner frustrated by these challenging cases (everyone!) as well as RCVS CertAVP candidates for small animal orthopaedic surgery C modules.
