This course focuses extensively on the subject of aggression in the dog.
Aggression is one of the most serious behaviour issues that dogs can exhibit. In addition to being an incredibly controversial subject, it is one of the most common reasons that dogs are presented for euthanasia.
This is a difficult problem for both veterinary staff and pet owners. Very often it can prove challenging to resolve. Through in-depth discussion and examining case studies, the delegate should get a broad understanding of this subject, enabling them to give tailored advice to potential clients, or alternatively, understanding an aggressive dog better, thereby avoiding injury or accident to themselves.
Delegates will consider:
• Why dogs become aggressive
• What motivates aggression
• Treatment options
Who is it for?
This course is primarily aimed at those who have attended previous behaviour courses or those who have a fundamental understanding of behaviour therapy. For an entry level course, we recommend Introduction to Dog Behaviour. (This course is advertised on the VetClick Calendar as well.) This course on aggression is recommended for people who either work with aggressive dogs, or are highly likely to encounter aggressive dogs in their home or workplace. (eg police, kennel workers, veterinary staff.)
