This course will provide an overview of all available vaccines in the UK and critically appraise the role of vaccines in the cattle industry. In addition, it will present results from recent research carried out by Nottingham University and other research groups in the area of vaccination of cattle relevant to practitioners. Research has shown that veterinary surgeons struggle with decision-making regarding vaccination protocols and this course aims to clarify aspects to facilitate their decision-making. The role of immunity in relation to the efficacy of cattle vaccines will be covered. The knowledge gained on the course is applied on the day in interactive case studies to consolidate your learning.

Who is it for?

This course is designed for veterinary surgeons with all levels of experience. It will provide invaluable practical information for those who have limited experience with implementation of vaccination advice on dairy and beef farms. In addition, it will provide information for experienced practitioners around the area of decision-making and risk perception of veterinary surgeons and farmers. The course would also be of value to those veterinary surgeons undertaking further professional qualifications in preventive herd health medicine.
