The other days of the week will be spent working in training practices linked to the College on unpaid work placements. The units include health and safety in veterinary practice, animal health, essential veterinary skills, radiography, medical and surgical nursing. During the course students will complete a Nursing Progress Log as a record of evidence that competence has been met in various tasks. Students must have at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Mathematics, English and Science or an ANA qualification. Students must have had 4 weeks work experience before enrolling on this course and complete an entry essay.Students must have had 4 weeks work experience before enrolling on this course. Work placements and the College course will need to cover 94 weeks and students. These placements are organised by the college but the responsibility for travelling to and from the placement (including cost) is the responsibility of the student.
Who is it for?
Students will be taught the specialist skills needed to become a veterinary nurse and be able to put the skills learnt into practice in the workplace. This course is open to students who are not in paid employment and will involve students attending college for two years.
