Date: Monday 6th November, 2017 - Sunday 26th November, 2017
Start time: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Duration: 8 hour(s)
Cost: £109

This comprehensive course will give you the basics you need for interpretation of the most common haematological disorders in dogs and cats. Participants will learn how to review blood smears and develop a logic diagnostic approach to the alterations of red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. All this will be achieved through a case-based approach.

Clinical case challenges and diagnostic algorithms will also be provided to help you understand the concepts presented and to consolidate your knowledge.

MODULE 1: Sampling techniques, overview of the different types of haematology analysers and approach to blood smear examination.

MODULE 2: Red blood cell morphological abnormalities and diagnostic approach to anaemia.

MODULE 3: The white blood cells: morphological and numerical alterations.

MODULE 4: Platelets and their most common related disorders.

Throughout the 3 weeks of the course, you will also be presented with clinical cases to work through, that we invite you to analyse and discuss in the classroom forum. Please use the forum as much as possible to discuss the course material and to ask questions. Better understanding will be achieved through a dialogue and sharing your experiences with other delegates is invaluable.

Who the course is aimed at: This course is mainly intended for general practitioners but veterinary nurses with a special interest in lab works and veterinary biomedical scientists or lab technicians who would like to learn more about the pathophysiology behind the haematological disorders are welcome to participate.

Vet CPD Online Tutored Courses take approximately 8 hours to complete and can be completed at your own pace and at any time over the course’s 3-week period. There are downloadable course notes and clinical cases to work through, plus – what makes our courses unique – a busy clinical forum where questions and answers are posted and where delegates have access to the instructor for the duration of the course. This always generates some lively discussions and the idea that no one should leave a course with any unanswered questions.

At the end of the course there is a final exam plus a Certificate of Completion for your CPD records.
