Date: Tuesday 7th February, 2012 - Tuesday 7th February, 2012
Start time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Duration: 2 hour(s)
Cost: £28

Over the last decade the use of analgesic drugs has become common place in veterinary practice, with even the most simple of cases receiving one or more analgesic medications. There is a danger however that by assuming our patients are ‘pain free’ as a result of adequate drug provision we overlook more obvious factors that contribute to their comfort and well-being.

This course looks at some of the other nursing methods that help keep our patients comfortable. Whilst focusing mainly on small animal patients, cross species examples will be included throughout.

Delegates will consider:
Why is patient comfort important?
Applying the concept of ‘nursing models’ to general practice
Principles of good inpatient nursing
Nursing of specific impatient groups – e.g. neonates, geriatrics, exotics
Peri-operative considerations to maximize patient care and comfort

Who is it for?

Diploma and degree students and qualified veterinary nurses wishing to improve inpatient care in their practices.
