Poisoning and toxicological emergencies are very common within veterinary practice. Early treatment is often vital in gaining a successful outcome for these patients.
This course will look at dealing with these cases from the initial telephone call to the practice to the treatment of the most commonly seen poisonings.
Course Content:
Delegates will consider:
• Telephone advice for suspected poisoning cases - including gaining vital information of the source
• Clinical signs and treatment protocols of common household toxins
• Nursing poisoning cases - to include case studies
Who is it for?
This course is suitable for all veterinary nurses; from student nurses to qualified experienced nurses working in general practice or emergency clinics.
The Speakers
Louise O’Dwyer DMS, BSc(Hons), DipAVN (Medical), Dip AVN (Surgical), NCert(A&CC), RVN <br /> Louise is Head Veterinary Nurse in one of the UK’s largest emergency veterinary clinics. Louise has written a book on wound management and is a regular speaker at veterinary congresses.<br />
