Pain assessment is now considered to be as important as monitoring vital parameters and pain management has advanced significantly in recent times. In this 60 minute webcast for veterinary nurses, we will consider some basic pain physiology and then discuss the various analgesic drugs available including opioids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and local anaesthetics. We will describe the concept of multimodal analgesia and also emphasise the importance of non-pharmacological measures of pain management.
