This 30 minute online CPD tutorial for veterinary courses covers hypovolaemia and dehydration, which are the two main indications for parenteral fluid therapy. However, they are not the same thing - they are assessed using different parameters and treated differently. Hypovolaemia is the most common cause of shock in small animals and can be life-threatening. This webcast explains the differences between hypovolaemia and dehydration and also mentions some of the other types of shock.
