About this course
In this case-based online course on fluid therapy, our aim is to focus on the practical application of concepts rather than theoretical constructs. Each week, different challenging cases will form the basis of the webinar presentations, forum discussions and exercises designed to let delegates apply their knowledge. The course will emphasise fluid therapy basics to more advanced scenarios involving different types of fluids and transfusion. The last week will discuss particular challenging metabolic cases (e.g., diabetic ketoacidosis, Addisonian crises, hepatic encephalopathy) and how fluid therapy is used in these cases.
The course last ran in 2015 and is suitable for general and advanced practitioners and will be useful CPD for veterinarians preparing for the RCVS CertAVP C modules in emergency and critical care. It contains all of the learning material (webinars, reading material, slides, self assessment exercises) from then, but is not tutor moderated. A set of FAQs is available which represent the questions and concerns previous participants have had and the tutor responses.
