Ask The VetIt is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Walter Beswick MRCVS after a long illness. Walter had moderated the Vetclick Veterinary Forum since it's inception. Walter would have been delighted to know that Mark Richer, a young veterinary surgeon, with whom he enjoyed a long standing friendship based on mutual affection and respect, has been persuaded to take on this task. Mark Richer BVetMed CertSAM Dip.Law MRCVS Barrister Mark graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1993 with a distinction in Small Animal Studies and then went into small animal practice in London gaining the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Medicine before he joined the staff of the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital at the University of Cambridge in 2000 as Resident in Small Animal Medicine. He was promoted to Lecturer in Veterinary Clinical Pathology in 2001 and then returned to private referral practice in 2002. Since then he has worked as a referral vet dealing with small animal medical disorders and also as a clinical pathologist. Mark also managed to squeeze in getting qualified as a Barrister and has served on the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Council including the Disciplinary Committee and on the Council of the RSPCA. His main interests are in oncology (cancer) and blood disorders, although he spends much of his time dealing with cardiology and abdominal diseases and performing ultrasound examinations. He does all his own clinical pathology work and enjoys teaching. He lives with his cat 'Spacks' in the New Forest (who he rescued when she was paralysed in a car accident and is more demanding than any of his patients!).
