Posted: Tuesday 30th May, 2017. 16:38:13

Our Client - A small animal practice based in West London have a fantastic an opportunity for a Veterinary Receptionist to join the team.

This job entails a high level of contact with clients and so the receptionist/nursing assistant holds a very important position in the practice, as “first impressions” count. The receptionist/nursing assistant must have a friendly outlook, be polite, have excellent manners, be helpful, be well –presented, be articulate, be numerate and be well spoken.

The basic “Front-Desk” duties include answering the telephone, making appointments and receiving clients at the reception desk. Sometimes all these events happen at the same time and so you must be able to juggle several demands whilst still remaining calm and organised.
There are, however, several other areas of responsibility with this job, the main ones of which are as follows:

-- Dispensing of foods and medicines (as advised by the vet)
-- Ordering and receiving supplies and controlling and maintaining levels of all stock accurately
-- Taking payments and recording transactions. Balancing the till at the end of each day and running the computer’s back-up
-- Offering basic advice to clients
-- Assisting the vet to restrain an animal for eg blood tests eg treatments
-- Assisting the vet at Grove Park if performing minor surgeries or interventions including those pets under anaesthesia
-- Basic filing, office management
-- Liaising with clients, transferring messages
-- Daily cleaning and ensuring that the practice is always tidy
-- Liaising with the other staff at the main clinic at Earls Court on any matter

The clinic opening hours are 0930-1800 (M-F) but you are to be at work at 0915. The closing time at the end of the day might be later if an emergency arrives at the practice.

The receptionist/nursing assistant may leave once all the end of day tasks have been completed – this would normally be by 1825/1830.

On Saturdays, the clinic is open to clients from 0930-1200. The receptionist/nursing assistant is to be at work at 0915. Saturdays are sometimes very busy and there may be a need to extend our appointments beyond 1200. You would normally be able to leave by 1230.

The job is full time (5 days per week and 14 Saturdays per year). We do not wish to take on a new receptionist/nursing assistant if you already know that you are not likely to stay for less than a year.

There is an excellent pay package on offer here- if you're interested or you want to apply for the position call Joel Thompson on 01291 645 871 or email your CV to
