The Vet Nurse Online Volunteering for Animal Welfare Grant has now been awarded, after a really great response from Vet Nurses planning to volunteer over the next year.
We have now awarded the Volunteering for Animal Welfare Grant for 2014, and with so many fantastic applications it has been a very difficult decision. But, it is great to be able to announce that the Grant for £500 has this year been awarded to Ashley Crews, a VN who volunteers “all the time” raising orphaned puppies and kittens in the UK.
Ashley’s dedication to her volunteer work was so clear from her application form that we thought she really deserves the award, which will be spent on an incubator to help her with her busy work and give the puppies and kittens she cares for the best possible chance. Ashley has hand reared over a hundred puppies and kittens through her work and for the RSPCA, and does it all at the same time as her vet nurse day job, using her nursing skills at home as well as at work.
So, we’d like to recognise Ashley’s contribution to animal welfare and award her the Grant, and hope that the incubator it will help to buy will help her with her volunteering and help these puppies and kittens she cares for. We’d also like to thank everyone who applied for the Grant, and apologies to those who have not been successful at this time. And to wish you all a fantastic time in all your volunteering plans this year!
