Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a common endocrine disease in small animal practice. A thorough history and physical examination will raise the suspicion for this disorder in most cases. While the diagnosis is usually straightforward, the treatment and monitoring of DM can be challenging. Furthermore, the complications that can arise from incorrect or inappropriate management can be more problematic than the disease itself.
BSAVA's Senior Vice President Grant Petrie
On 14 September at BSAVA’s Gloucester HQ, Grant Petrie will adopt a seminar approach using a case-based format to explore DM. The course will be tailored to the requirements of the attendees on the day. There will be discussion on diabetic clinics, the use and misuse of blood glucose curves, getting cats in to remission, the value of home monitoring and new technology. There will be emphasis on the benefits of a team approach to managing diabetic patients. The goal of the course is that delegates will be enthused about this fascinating disease and provide practical tools that can be applied at the clinic from very the next day.
