ASSVAP Appoints Dr. Gail Williams As New Head Of Education And Training

Gail (left) giving practical instruction The Association for the Scientific Study of Veterinary and Animal Physiotherapy (ASSVAP) has appointed Dr. Gail Williams BA (Hons) V.Phys PhD MASSAP as Head of Education and Training. Gail is a well respected veterinary physiotherapist and has been named one of the top veterinary physiotherapists in the UK by a leading magazine. Whilst treating animals is very close to Gail’s heart, she has a passion for education, as the practical tuition she provides for ASSVAP student members and the lectures she gives internationally testify. “I am delighted to be taking on this new challenge,” says Gail. “One of the reasons that I was drawn to ASSVAP was that it has a strong ethos on encouragement, support and inclusion towards its student members. It is also committed to providing continuing professional development (CPD) for veterinary physiotherapists. For an association that is only four months old, ASSVAP’s achievements to date have been remarkable.” ASSVAP is organising many CPD opportunities for veterinary physiotherapists and nurses. Their first CPD, Compete Equine Remedial Exercise with Jo Hodges, Gail Williams and Naomi Franklin, was fully booked and has received excellent feedback ASSVAP has organised two more CPD courses for the coming months: Electrotherapy in Veterinary Practice with Professor Tim Watson is scheduled for 30th May 2012, and Pathology and Biomechanics of Animal Musculoskeletal Tissues- a physiotherapist’s perspective, with Gail Williams will take place on 5th May 2012. ASSVAP members enjoy subsidised rates on all courses organised by the association. In addition to this ‘hands on’ approach to education and training, membership to ASSVAP provides access to the website, which is updated daily, and contains current information relating to all aspects of veterinary physiotherapy, latest research, book reviews, news and more. Whilst anyone can apply for membership to ASSVAP, each application is considered on its own merit. Full membership is £100 p.a, whilst student membership is £50 p.a.
