At the Vets4Pets Support Office, every day sees colleagues bring their dogs into work and Bring Your Dog to Work Day is an opportunity to focus on the benefits of doing so.

The office in Swindon welcomes, and indeed encourages, dogs of all shapes and sizes through the doors every day.

And it operates a Petiquette policy, that advises colleagues on responsible pet ownership and how to keep their dog healthy and safe in the office.

Dr Huw Stacey, vet and director of clinical services at Vets4Pets, explains the positive aspects of having dogs in the workplace.

He said: “At Vets4Pets we encourage colleagues to bring their dogs to work as there are many benefits to having pets in the workplace.

“Dogs can help to reduce stress levels, keep people active during breaks and can increase productivity and happiness within the work environment.

“Of course not all work environments are suitable for dogs, so owners should make sure that their dogs will be in a safe environment, are kept entertained and have access to food and water.

“Dogs with more anxious dispositions may find it hard to cope with busy work environments, so owners should pay close attention to whether their pet appears comfortable and relaxed.

“Panting, restless and agitation might all be signs of anxiety that suggest that your dog isn’t cut out for the working life.

“But it’s great to be able to use today as a celebration of the benefits of having dogs in the workplace.”
