The ticket office is now open for BEVA Congress 2012 and early birds can take advantage of some excellent discounts if they book before the end of July. The event, which will be held on 12- 15 September 2012 at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham, is widely renowned as the world’s best equine veterinary congress, not only for its first-class science programme but also for its superb schedule of social events. The Scientific Programme is spread over three days, with five in-depth programmes running concurrently in five separate lecture halls, catering for vets and vet nurses at every level. This year it has been drawn up with the busy general practitioner in mind. It covers a broad range of predominantly day-to-day equine medicine and surgery, through traditional lectures, panel discussions, interactive forums and ‘how to’ sessions. Programme highlights include an ophthalmology panel with Dennis Brooks; Sue Dyson on what’s new in the assessment of proximal metacarpal region pain in sport horses; Danny Scott on dermatology, a potentially heated debate on the practice of firing; a practical careers session for new graduates and an afternoon on aspects of practice management. A new introduction for this year is a daily current affairs slot, which includes the News Hour Congress Quiz with Ben Mayes on the final day. The captivating John Walmsey will be giving the plenary lecture on forty years of technological advances in equine practice. To help the time-pressed manage their lecture attendance more effectively BEVA Congress’s Encore Room, sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health, gives delegates the chance to play back missed lectures at their convenience. This year’s BEVA Congress runs from 12–15 September 2012 at the International Convention Centre, Birmingham. Those registering before the end of July will receive significant discounts.
