Join animals and their owners this Saturday, 21st September at 3pm and celebrate the joy of all our animals, great and small. The service will begin in the grounds of Snetterton church, with all animals welcome to join - and continue onto World Horse Welfare's Hall Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre just next door. Reverend, Michael Langlan will bless all animals that are able to join the service, including Tinker, a World Horse Welfare rehabilitated horse who was brought to the charity's attention after she was spotted by a welfare caller through her train window. Tinker was collapsed by the river bank in Downham Market, Norfolk. [Tinker as found attached] Tinker will be at the church service along with the welfare caller, Mary, who first saw Tinker and a group of other horses in a field from her train window on her way to London and again on her way home. World Horse Welfare staff will be on hand to speak about Tinker’s rehabilitation process and Gill, Tinker's rehomer from Thetford, will tell the greatest story of all: how wonderful it is to now have Tinker in her care, based at a farm in Shipdham. When World Horse Welfare's Field Officer for the Norfolk and Suffolk area, Jacko Jackson rescued Tinker; a group of other horses were found in a bad state along with her. Upon arrival, Jacko discovered a group of ponies that were emaciated, full of lice and had serious skin complaints. All were completely unhandled. Together with the RSPCA, World Horse Welfare had to round them up for urgent attention from the charity and a local vet. If an owner could have been found for these group of horses they would have been subject to prosecution. Tinker originally arrived at World Horse Welfare at only two years old, in poor condition and very nervous. Following a period of rehabilitation she was rehomed as a youngster in 2005. She was returned to Hall Farm in 2009 and has since been broken in to ride. Now 11 years old, she is a lovely, sweet natured mare who is now easy to handle and ride; she is quiet to hack and even confident in traffic. The horse charity is thrilled that she is now settled in her new home with Gill. [Tinker after rehabilitation attached] After the service the vicar will also bless some of the horses who are currently undergoing rehabilitation at Hall Farm. Come along, remember your loved ones and help raise funds for many loved ones to come. There will be a collection in aid of World Horse Welfare and the Norfolk Churches Trust, with refreshments available to purchase in the charity's Visitor Centre after the service. For more information on this event please call Dawn at World Horse Welfare on 01953 497225.
