The ticket office is now open for BEVA Congress 2013 and if you register before 5 August 2013 you can take advantage of some excellent discounts. The event, which will be held on 11- 14 September 2013 at the award-winning Manchester Central Convention Centre, is the largest equine veterinary conference in Europe. The outstanding CPD programme combines world-class science and innovation with day-to-day practical themes, while the social events have become legendary in their own right. This year’s Scientific Programme is spread over three days, with five in-depth programmes running concurrently in five separate lecture halls. Using traditional lectures, panel discussions, interactive forums and ‘how to’ sessions, high profile international speakers will cover an eclectic choice of topics, relevant to vets throughout all stages of their career, whether an undergraduate or a leading Specialist. Programme highlights include Rich Redding, clinical associate professor of surgery at North Carolina State University, chairing a panel on subchrondal bone pain; Ann Dwyer, current president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, on the management of the adnexal squamous cell carcinoma in the ophthalmology session; a debate on whether or not some advanced diagnostics and treatments should only be undertaken by formally trained and recognised specialists; careers workshops for new and recent graduates; practice management sessions and a comprehensive programme specifically for vet nurses. There will also be dentistry, lameness, colic and endocrine panels. Professor Paddy Dixon, one of the most accomplished veterinary scientists and surgeons of his generation will be giving the plenary lecture with the intriguing title ‘The evolution of the horse and equine dentistry – any connections?’ Following last year’s success there will be a daily current affairs slot, covering, amongst other things, supply and demand for new vet schools and MRSA and AMR in equine practice (Scott Weese). To help the time-pressed manage their lecture attendance more effectively BEVA Congress’ Encore Room, sponsored by Zoetis (formerly Pfizer Animal Health), gives delegates the chance to play back missed lectures at their convenience. This year’s BEVA Congress runs from 11–14 September 2013 at Manchester Central, in the heart of one of Europe’s most exciting cities. As a charity BEVA provides Congress registration at a competitive price and offers additional discounts to its members. Those registering before 5 August will receive significantly reduced booking fees. Visit www.beva.org.uk today to find out more and to sign up.
