On Tuesday 4 April Brooke – Action for Working Horses And Donkeys launched Friends Of Brooke, an exciting new initiative for its loyal supporters. Hosted by Patron Alastair Stewart at Surrey’s picturesque Loseley Park, the intimate evening gave guests the chance to hear all about the programme which allows members to become more closely involved with the work in the field, receive invites to special events throughout the year and exclusive updates on the charity’s work across the developing world.

Alastair and Brooke CEO Petra Ingram shared stories from their time working with Brooke and discussed the charity’s ever expanding work with horses, donkeys and mules in desperate need, including their recent accomplishment of reaching two million working equines in 2016.

Petra Ingram, Chief Executive of Brooke said: “We are so grateful to our donors for helping us reach so many animals in need. Friends of Brooke is the perfect opportunity for our most loyal and knowledgeable supporters to hear more about the details of our work, and actually get involved by meeting the staff that make it all happen. A special thank you goes to Michael More-Molyneux for donating his home to us for the evening and allowing us to launch our new programme in such beautiful surroundings. It’s great to be joined by so many of Brooke’s friends and together, with their continued support, we can move closer to our vision of a world in which working horses, donkeys and mules are free from suffering.”

Support from Brooke’s Friends programme helps to fund Brooke’s vital work across its international projects, and provides the charity with the ability to respond wherever the need is greatest.

Brooke patron Alastair Stewart said: "Horses have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. So I was honoured when Petra Ingram, Chief Executive of Brooke, asked me to come on board as Patron of Brooke. Since that time, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed a close friendship with this wonderful organisation. By joining as a Friend, you too have that opportunity, whilst making even more of an impact on a cause you’re passionate about."

The annual gift of between £1,000 - £5,000  from members of the initiative will make a lasting impact to  the welfare of working horses, donkeys and mules in developing countries around the world, making sure they have the opportunity to lead healthier, happier lives.  To find out more about Brooke’s Friends programme visit: www.thebrooke.org/friends
