Ifan LloydIfan Lloyd was today (Thursday) announced as the winner of this year’s John Bleby Cup in recognition of his outstanding contribution to BVA Council. Ifan has been a member of BVA Council since 2011 and, as the Welsh Regional Representative on Council, he has brought an inclusive approach to the role, upholding strong links with both North and South Wales members. He has demonstrated admirably how a Regional Representative can work well with the BVA Welsh Branch since the inception of the new Council structure. He has achieved this not only by his hard work and dedication in supporting BVA members in Wales, but also maintaining a constant presence on the BVA Community Platform, carefully gathering and representing all views and ensuring they are well represented at Council. Ifan’s approach has been pivotal in forging links with the Welsh Government and other animal health and welfare bodies – and in facilitating excellent dialogue and communication between BVA and its members in Wales. As well as being Welsh Regional Representative, a Partner in St James Veterinary Group in Swansea, husband to Christine and father to Dafydd and Mirain, Ifan finds time to run a smallholding and enjoys showing his flock of Ryeland Sheep as well as judging other shows around the country. On learning that he was to receive the John Bleby Cup, Ifan commented: "It was a complete surprise when the letter arrived with the news that I'd been awarded the John Bleby Cup . It's both an honour and privilege to receive this prestigious award. It's rare to receive a postal letter from BVA these days now that correspondence is mainly via e-mail and electronic messaging. I therefore assumed it was an outstanding bill and had to sit down to make sure and read a second time!"
