Jack the cat
For all you cat lovers out there, we’re sure you’re as excited as we are about tonight’s airing of the BBC Horizon’s Secret Life of Cats!
As the UK’s largest pet insurer, Petplan gets to hear first-hand about the mischievous adventures and scrapes our feline friends get into when out of sight so we know better than anyone how much peace of mind insurance can bring to our cat owners.
A case in point would be the roguish adventures of a ginger tom called Jack, appropriately named due to his long back legs, like a Jackrabbit. Jack lives by a wood which he loves, coming and going as he pleases, often out all night. Owner Caroline Baker micro chipped Jack and in return received one month’s free insurance from Petplan. It prompted a discussion on pet insurance but Caroline hadn’t acted on it further.
Then, during the period of free insurance Jack had an accident. While out on one of his evening sojourns Jack returned with a dislocated back leg and subsequently had to have an operation to repair it. The treatment Jack received cost almost £3,000 which was reimbursed in full by Petplan, thanks to the month’s free cover.
Caroline comments; “We don't know what we would have done without Petplan insurance. We would have ensured Jack got the treatment he needed but I really don't know how. We have taken out a full Petplan policy now and are glad to have that peace of mind for the future.”
