Over the past three years, Centaur Services has been undergoing a modernisation programme, which has included a £2 million investment in technology to reflect the changing needs of practices to be able to place smaller, more frequent orders to minimise their stock-holding. Following an upgrade of the warehouse operation and the introduction of new, more efficient picking systems, Centaur has been able to extend its ordering hours via its new website.
This new service on the MyCentaur website allows for 24-hour ordering from any broadband enabled computer. A secure practice shopping list with controlled staff access to ordering and management information enables practices to safely control any buying. To make the process simple to use yet informative, there are functions that include a powerful keyword search of the Centaur catalogue, “live” stock availability and “key performance indicators of purchasing activity”.
A key feature of the website is that any orders placed on line by 9pm will be delivered the following day, which gives practices even greater flexibility on ordering times over any existing vet wholesaling ordering service. As well as greater convenience, a financial benefit in using this method of ordering is that all on-line orders attract an additional two per cent discount.
“Our new website ordering service has been introduced to give practices a greater choice on ways to place their orders with us,” explained Colm McGinn from Centaur. “We still accept orders by phone to our Careline team and by fax, both of which are available for ordering from 8.30am to 6.30pm for next day delivery. But by using MyCentaur, practices can place orders outside normal practice hours and still have delivery the next day. ”
