Ceva Animal Health has launched an innovative new online resource, VetInterMed – www.vetintermed.ceva.com - to provide veterinary professionals with comprehensive resources in cardio-nephrology.

This free service will provide veterinary professionals with extensive materials to help with diagnosis and treatment by providing key information on the main cardiovascular diseases and therapeutic solutions.  VetInterMed also provides specific content to improve compliance by informing and educating pet owners.

The VetInterMed website enables vets to improve their consultations and provide optimal care which features three essential elements:

The VetInterMed site allows professionals to quickly and easily find the information they need with a simple and intuitive layout and a fresh, uncluttered design that makes navigation easy. A ‘Calendar’ section also provides access to real-time information on upcoming training sessions and events.

Attractive and educational training materials

As nothing beats learning by example, a considerable amount of content is devoted to videos, such as talks by Cardio Academy's international experts, advice and demonstrations of blood pressure measurement, and training in radiography and echocardiography procedures and interpretation.

Many reference publications are also available to support and assist vets in everyday clinical and diagnostic procedures in the areas of cardiology, nephrology and hypertension.

Vets will also find interactive tools which allow them to choose treatments according to the stage of the disease or their own clinical objectives.

Fun and relevant communication tools

As cardio-nephrology is complicated to explain to pet owners and client satisfaction with long-term treatments is sometimes hard to achieve, Ceva also offers numerous communication tools on its VetInterMed site. All these tools can be used during a consultation to support the vet’s messages, manage client expectations and improve adherence to their recommendations. They can also be e-mailed to the pet owner so they can share the vet's assessment with other family members.

There are a number of short, entertaining animated sequences explaining the condition such as the mechanisms of heart disease or clinical signs to look for. They are also useful for warning pet owners against the dangers of stopping treatment.

An instant fitness test and an application for measuring resting respiratory rate allows owners to actively participate in the medical assessment of their pets and become more involved.

Finally, in order to maintain contact with pet owners between follow-up visits, the site offers several customisable clinical fact sheets and template newsletters containing content such as seasonal advice for a pet that has a heart condition.

The latest research at your fingertips

Ceva is committed to offering vets the best ongoing training in cardiology, nephrology and hypertension, making it instantly available on online. To this end, vets will be able to use the ‘Training’ section to access a wide range of publications, Cardio Academy e-learning videos, webinars and a schedule of upcoming congresses and conferences. The materials cover a broad range of topics including pathophysiological mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment of the major canine heart diseases, feline kidney disease and feline hypertension.

Ceva is offering this valuable resource to vets around the world. By helping vets further develop clinical skills and providing tools to reduce time and stress in practice, Ceva hopes that vets will see an improvement in the outcome of these cases and help practices to grow this part of their business.
