The Vet Charity Challenge 2013 took place on Saturday 28th September with a record 55 teams taking part. The event, which was held at Pershore College involved teams of 4 undertaking a full day of activities including kayaking, biking and running all over a period of 6 ½ hours. The challenge isn’t simply physical though as there is a strategic theme with orienteering and cerebral puzzles requiring brain power.
Companion Care Canterbury entered 3 teams and each team was successful in completing the challenge with their top team, the ‘Wincheap Wombles’, achieving a total score of 546 points – just 228 points behind the winner. All 3 teams were closely matched though with scores of 535 and 522 for ‘Quadricep’ and ‘Canterbury Coyotes’ respectively and have so far raised nearly £1,000.
Duncan Green, Joint Venture Partner at Companion Care Canterbury was delighted with his teams’ success saying “the event is great day out and is perfect for team building whilst raising money for charity. We entered for the first time last year and are delighted to have entered more teams, improved our position and achieved more points than last year.”
The Challenge is designed and managed by Quest TGO Ltd and is planned to attract teams of all levels from those who want to have some fun through to the most competitive teams. Sponsors include BCF Technology, Kruuse and Vetoquinol with all donations supporting three animal charities: Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, SPANA and Animals Asia.
Last year Vet Charity Challenge raised over £21,000 for the nominated charities but this year is hoping to increase that to £50,000. If you would like to donate go to http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/companioncarecanterbury
