For vets who want to learn more about one of the most under-diagnosed equine conditions, an online CPD webinar “What you should know about Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome” is being held on Thursday 19th April, just ahead of Gastric Ulcer Awareness Month (GUAM) in May.
Presented by Rachael Conwell BVetMed, Cert EM (Int Med), DipECEIM, MRCVS, who runs Equimed Referrals, the webinar will cover all aspects of equine ulcers, from the vague symptoms - which are sometimes put down to back pain or poor temperament, to diagnostics, treatment, and prevention of recurrence.
Sponsored by Merial Equine Health the live and interactive format allows delegates to raise their own experiences and get individual answers from the speaker.
Merial’s Dr Emma Batson explains: “Awareness of gastric ulcers among horse owners is growing all the time. But with an estimated 40%1 of leisure horses and 60%2,3 of performance horses suffering from the condition, there is still a long way to go to help identify and treat these animals, as well as working to prevent the ulcers occurring and recurring.
“We have a number of initiatives and press events planned throughout May, so we hope that everyone will be talking about ulcers!”
The webinar takes place on Thursday 19 April at 7.30pm. And if you can’t make it or are called away at short notice and miss the live lecture, the full recording will be available online at a later time. The cost is £36+VAT.
