The Awards formed part of CVS' annual two day conference with more than 400 staff from across the company attending this year's 'Growth and Development' themed- event. During the morning of 7 November, each of CVS' directors presented an overview of their business, including progress made during 2015 and strategic goals for 2016. This was followed, for the first time, by an Executive 'Question Time', during which the directors answered questions from delegates from the floor. Sessions during the rest of the day and on 8 November were run in streams, featuring clinical CPD for small and large animals and practice management and business development.
Expert guest speakers at the conference included Pam Mosedale, Veterinary Advisor at the RCVS, who updated delegates on the New RCVS Practice Standards Scheme; Nick Royle, Chief Executive of RCVS Knowledge, who introduced the new evidence-based veterinary medicine portal, 'Veterinary Evidence'; Diane James from the Blue Cross, who discussed supporting clients during pet bereavement and Rita Howson, Chief Executive of charity Support Dogs, for which CVS raised £39,000 during 2015.
Simon Innes, Chief Executive at CVS, said: "Our annual conference brings together the future leaders of our business for two days of learning and bonding with their peers and colleagues from around the country. It is always a great experience as we celebrate progress made during the year and share our goals and plans for the year ahead. The level of engagement and commitment from delegates is inspirational and the feedback they give both constructive and insightful. It spurs us on to greater heights next year.
"Our annual awards also give us the opportunity to stand back from the day to day working environment and recognise some truly outstanding people within the business, who are making a vital contribution to its success. We congratulate all of this year's worthy winners."
Key to its success is CVS' ability to attract ambitious veterinary staff whilst continuing to invest in the development of their clinical skills and in research to drive the profession forward. It also provides the business support to ensure that its diverse range of small animal, large animal and equine practices achieve their full potential. CVS' guiding principles include a commitment to excellence in all aspects of its work and a focus on building long-term relationships with its customers and suppliers. The company works in close partnership with the wider veterinary profession and industry colleagues.
