CVS Reports Success Of RCVS Cert AVP Programme - 30 Veterinary Staff Now Enrolled

Barry Dart CVS UK Ltd has reported that it has exceeded the target for staff to sign up for its new RCVS Cert AVP with 30 veterinary staff now enrolled, ahead of the expected 25. Places for the Spring 2014 intake are also already almost fully booked, according to the company. The UK's fastest growing corporate veterinary group launched its RCVS Cert AVP in Spring 2013 with the objective of providing its veterinary staff with the opportunity to improve their practice and gain advanced practitioner status. It is a fully funded qualification achieved over three years through e-learning with Liverpool University. Students are also provided with annual BSAVA membership and congress registration; a two year subscription to CPD Solutions' Webinar Vet Club, a text book allowance and leave to see practice and to study. Bryan Dart, a Clinical Director at CVS, who is undertaking the qualification, comments: "I've always toyed with the idea of doing a Certificate but never seemed to find the right time. I enrolled with trepidation, worried that I would be overloaded with responsibilities from my 'day job' and the additional work load that the AVP Certificate would bring. So far I have found the work load tough but manageable and I'm really moving forward as a vet and developing both my clinical and client-focused skills." Commenting on the scheme, Barry Brackner, who has responsibility for Marketing at CVS, said: "One of our central pillars is supporting the development of our people. Investing in high quality training is a key way in which we deliver this and the launch of our RCVS Cert AVP is a good example. We have been delighted with the enthusiastic take up of the scheme which reflects a desire among many veterinary staff to enhance their skills and take their careers forward in new ways." Those applying for the CVS RCVS Cert AVP Programme should have been in its employment for a minimum of 12 months and satisfy other criteria set down by the company.
