When: 15 June 2014, 12 - 4pm Where: Davies Vet Specialists (DVS), Manor Farm Business Park, Higham Gobion SG5 3HR What: Family Fun Day, with a special Father’s Day theme, to be formally opened at midday by Luke Gamble of Sky TV’s Vet Adventures Dads and dogs in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire are brushing their whiskers and practising their poses in preparation for the much-loved Davies Vet Specialists (DVS) Family Fun Day on Father’s Day, 15th June 2014. To celebrate this auspicious paternal occasion there will be some special competitions for Dads, including ‘Best dad and dog’ and the chance to win a keg of beer in the raffle draw. All the money raised will be donated to Mission Rabies and the Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in Bedford. Last held in 2012, the DVS Family Fun Day was a big hit with local families and this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever. Once again Luke Gamble of Sky TV’s Vet Adventures will be guest of honour. He became a firm friend of the hospital during last year’s Mission Rabies project, which saw DVS vets raising funds and helping to vaccinate over 60,000 street dogs in India. If you love animals then you will love the DVS Family Fun Day. Entry is free and as well as the Father’s Day theme there is something to delight everyone from Grannies to Grandchildren. You can marvel in the precision and biddability of working dogs in the gun dog display, be blown away by the elegance and agility of falcons and be thrilled by the need for speed in the doggy dash. For those fascinated with veterinary matters there will be a series of talks on practical pet topics such as animal first aid, nutrition and physiotherapy. There will regular tours of the first-class facilities at DVS, including displays of state-of-the-art MRI and CT equipment, the advanced keyhole technologies such as endoscopy, laparoscopy and arthroscopy, as well as the chance to view the wards and consultation rooms. Young aspiring vets will even have the opportunity to dress as a veterinary surgeon. There’s face painting, an entertainer and ice creams for children, while Mums and Dads can browse the numerous pet-themed stalls. For the hungry there’s a hog roast, crepes and homemade cakes. As a special memento of the day there will be a photographer on hand to take a portrait of your beloved pet. Clive Elwood, managing director at DVS said: “I think the staff at DVS enjoy our Family Fun Day as much as all our visitors do as it’s a wonderful way to raise money for two excellent causes. This year we can’t think of a better way to celebrate Father’s Day – Dads will love it, especially if they get to win the keg of beer in the raffle!” To find out more visit www.vetspecialists.co.uk or like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/DVSvets, where you can enter an exclusive Father’s Day competition.
