Davies Veterinary Specialists (DVS), the private small animal referral hospital based in Hertfordshire, has launched a series of 14 videos on their own YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/daviesvetspecialists/videos to help guide pet owners through the veterinary referral process. The short, engaging videos are a useful information tool for first opinion practices to help them explain to their clients why their pet may need to be referred and what to expect during the process. The videos are being launched at a rate of one a week and of the five posted on YouTube so far there have been more than 2,500 collective views to date. Clive Elwood, Managing Director of DVS explains: “Explaining the veterinary referral process and the options available can be time-consuming for primary practitioners and daunting for pet owners, especially when it comes to making important decisions when their precious cat or dog is injured or unwell. Our videos aim to help replace anxieties with reassurance by showing your clients what to expect at a referral centre, the capabilities of modern science and equipment and the outstanding expertise, compassion and care provided by our staff.” There is a brief introductory video providing an overview of Davies Veterinary Specialists and then an additional 13 videos cover all the disciplines: anaesthesia, cardiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neurology, nursing and animal care, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, physiotherapy and soft tissue surgery, with a final ‘Behind the scenes’ piece celebrating the essential support services. They give an objective insight into the specialist treatment a pet may need, the vets who will care for him or her and the facilities available. You can watch the new videos at http://www.youtube.com/user/daviesvetspecialists/videos or on the DVS website at http://vetspecialists.co.uk/news/videos-from-davies-veterinary-specialists.
