The issue of antimicrobial resistance will be put under the microscope at BVA Congress, with Dechra Veterinary Products' latest campaign supporting debate of the growing concern. The company will be talking to delegates about Dechra's It's Time to Change campaign, which currently focuses on otitis externa, at the event in Liverpool. Among the presentations at BVA Congress, which takes place from September 27-29, will be a lecture on a practical approach to responsible antibiotic use in companion animals. The theme of the 2012 Congress ties in with Dechra's new dermatology campaign, which is supporting veterinary professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of otitis externa. Dechra Veterinary Products' UK and Ireland Country Manager Bob Parmenter said: “We're looking forward to welcoming visitors to our stand at BVA Congress, where we will have a range of support materials for veterinary professionals available. “The It's Time to Change campaign was launched this year amid a growing concern surrounding the issues of antimicrobial resistance. The campaign provides assistance in helping to diagnose the organisms associated with the infection, support in choosing the correct approach to control as well as help in educating owners to apply and use topical antibiotic treatments correctly.” The team from Dechra Veterinary Products will be on stand 15 at BVA Congress which takes place at the Merseyside Maritime Museum. The vital role vets play in helping to prevent the development of antimicrobial resistance is the theme for the Wooldridge Memorial Lecture, taken by Professor David L Heymann, Head and Senior Fellow, Centre on Global Health Security.
