Docu-Pet’s Revolutionary Health Records Save Pets’ Lives

While humans can communicate their health problems to their doctor, a pet relies on a vet who is familiar with the animal’s medical records. In an emergency, a vet with no access to these records may miss important information, such as allergies, details of current ailments, or recent surgeries, necessary when treating urgent cases. Often a pet’s life can depend on this.

Docu-Pet, a comprehensive animal information and recovery system, solves this by providing the vet with instant access to the pet’s full medical history, ensuring correct treatment is given without delay.

An injured and lost cat is treated and reunited with its owner after wandering miles from its home in Manchester. An injured dog in London is properly treated when an emergency vet immediately accesses its medical history. Docu-Pet ensures that pets are properly identified and diagnosed fast.

How does Docu-Pet work?

Docu-Pet stores an animal’s records on a rugged and resilient “button”, the size of a watch battery, which clips to a pet’s collar, so that whatever happens and wherever the animal goes, it always carries its identification and medical history.

A vet or animal rescue centre can access the data instantly with a simple reader for comprehensive details of the animal, its current health status and the identities of the animal and its owner. It also ensures that kennels have all pertinent information when pets are boarded away from home.

Easy to use, convenient and cost effective

Docu-Pet is easy to install, easy to use and cost effective, both for vets and pet owners. The system comprises:
  • The Docu-Pet button stores data through a reader/writer utilising a USB port. The button can store full animal specific and medical details about the animal including photographs for proper identification and contact details for the owner and the pet’s local vet.

  • The reader/writer links to the vet’s PC through a standard USB interface. Only approved vets can write data to the button, so security is guaranteed.

  • Docu-Pet software runs in Microsoft Windows and can be used as a standalone package or integrated with the vet’s existing practice management software. Data is updated on Docu-Pet with a simple click of a mouse button.
Docu-Pet is cost effective. For a minimal investment in software and the reader/writer, the system can save the vet time and money, and increase efficiency by supporting their diagnosis through historical analysis. The vet may also benefit from additional revenue by offering additional Docu-Pet buttons to pet owners.

The pet owner ensures their pet a lifetime of appropriate treatment in the case of an accident, emergency or simple boarding.

The Docu-Pet button is non-invasive and simply clips-on to an animal’s collar, making it convenient for reading and updating when medical records are required or whenever the pet is treated.

Simple, yet effective solution

Out of 13 million pet dogs and cats in the UK, some 250,000 will go missing each year. Many are destroyed when owners cannot be found. Docu-Pet can help reunite missing pets with their owners and ensure that the pets receive appropriate medical treatment. For full details visit www.docu-pet.co.uk
