Hundreds of dog owners visited ROYAL CANIN’s Weight Management Marquee at this year’s DogFest. Offering weight management advice at both the Cheshire and Windsor festivals, ROYAL CANIN’S popular marquee gave visitors the chance to receive a free Healthy Weight Check and Body Condition Score (BCS) for their dog.

The Weight Management specialist team was joined by registered vet nurses from ROYAL CANIN’s Approved Weight Management Centre scheme, who were on hand to provide tailored advice on Body Condition Scoring, calories, treats and diets.  Alma Veterinary Hospital in Windsor and Abbeycroft Veterinary Surgery from Cheshire also assisted at DogFest South, helping owners who wanted to start their pet’s weight loss journey. Visitors to the marquee left armed with vouchers towards ROYAL CANIN’s lifestage and weight management diets.

ROYAL CANIN’s Veterinary Marketing Manager, Marianne Lomberg, comments: “Despite improved education, specialised diets and media attention, obesity continues to be a growing problem within the pet population, with an estimated 20% considered to be clinically obese(1). In our role as educators, communicating the importance of appropriate feeding is essential.

“It goes without saying that owners want the best for their pets in order to maintain a healthy and fulfilling relationship, so DogFest provided a great opportunity to offer them advice and information. With over 500 dog owners visiting the marquee, it was great that we were able to raise awareness of what can sometimes be a sensitive subject, and help owners kick start their pet’s weight loss journey.”

Pet owners and their dogs were also given the chance to take a breather from the day’s excitement in ROYAL CANIN’s Chill Zone, with bowls and glasses of water for all!

DogFest is a UK Summer Festival for dogs, hosted by Channel 4’s Supervet, Noel Fitzpatrick, designed to be a fun-filled day full of interactive sessions and activities for dogs and pet owners alike. DogFest 2016 took place over two weekends – from 18-19 June at Arley Hall, Cheshire and from 25-26 June at the Great Park in Windsor.
