The British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) has teamed up with the British Veterinary Dental Association (BVDA) to host a two day Advanced Theoretical Equine Dentistry Course on the 19th and 20th August in Birmingham. The event is open to aspiring and accomplished Equine Dental Technicians and Veterinarians, and is compulsory for candidates wishing to undertake the BEVA/BVDA Equine Dental Technicians exam.

This is a lecture-based course, crammed full of talks covering key aspects of equine dentistry and the programme is delivered by specialist industry speakers - Rob Pascoe BVSc MRCVS BAEDT, Chris Pearce BVSc CertEM (IntMed) MRCVS BAEDT and Rupert Smith BAEDT. At the end of day two, the EDT exam will be discussed in detail and the reasons for previous exam failures will be helpfully highlighted. Comprehensive notes are included in the course fee, which are essential reading when preparing to sit the EDT exam.

Victoria Nicholls a BEVA accredited equine dental technician and vet from Wright and Morten Veterinary Practice in Cheshire explains: “This is an essential for exam candidates as it provides a great theoretical overview of equine dentistry by some really good speakers – the lectures are clear and concise and illustrated well by great examples of how to approach problem cases.”

Mark Twigg a BEVA accredited equine dental technician based in Scotland describes the course as simply “excellent and an invaluable tool for anyone wishing to sit the exam.”

The Advanced Theoretical Equine Dental Technicians Course will be held at Jurys Inn Hotel in Birmingham on 19th – 20th August 2011. It costs £450 for the two days but BEVA Veterinary Members can attend the second day only for £250. The event is sponsored by Kruuse, Veterinary Dental Products Europe and Equine Blades Direct.
