Edgewood Veterinary Group Implement Visbion PACS For Their New Hospital

March 2016. Visbion are pleased to be providing a PACS solution for Edgewood Veterinary Group for their new hospital building in Purleigh. Edgewood required a system that would allow them to connect their CR, US and Dental CR systems to review and store DICOM images. The Visbion Image Archive Entry Level system was therefore put forward as the best option. The Entry Level system allows for the connection of up to 3 modalities and has the capacity to store up to 150,000 standard x-ray images, making it a suitable contender to meet Edgewood’s needs. In addition, the new PACS will allow users to log in from any of the branches to view images from all modalities side by side via Image Web, Visbion’s online image viewer software.
Edgewood Veterinary Group was established in the 1950s and is currently made up of three branches in Purleigh, Maldon and Burnham. In order to keep up with demand, Edgewood made the decision that rather than extend their current building; they would undertake to build a brand new hospital on the Purleigh site. Just before completion of the hospital building, Visbion installed the new PACS software and on October 26th 2015, Edgewood had their first clients through the door.
The new building is purpose built and includes a range of design features that will benefit staff, clients and patients alike. Dedicated rooms now host their CR and Dental radiography systems alongside a well equipped prep area and separate accommodation for dogs, cats and exotics; ensuring everything and everyone is kept in the correct place. The new building houses two theatres, and with this expansion Edgewood have been able to bring in an orthopaedic specialist to increase and improve the services they offer to clients. In the future, Edgewood hope to expand their offerings further with cardiology and dermatology specialists, and an out of hours service.
