It’s the battle of the rasps at World Horse Welfare’s Belwade Farm this summer.
We are holding our 15th Annual Farriery competition and one-day clinic between Friday 25 and Sunday 27 May 2012. Six-time World Champion in Farriery, Grant Moon AWCF, is running the clinic on the Friday and will be judging the classes during the two-day competition over the weekend.
The event is in celebration of the charity’s 85th anniversary and the opening of new purpose built indoor school and visitor centre which is planned to be open in time.
In association with Mustad, the leading horseshoe, nail and tool producer worldwide, the farriery event is open to all farriers and is being organised by World Horse Welfare Farrier Donald Nicol who says: “I would encourage all farriers to come along as it’s a really fun competition with no pressure. Last year’s event was a great success with a good turnout of apprentices which is very encouraging.
“Members of the public are welcome to come along and watch as it’s really interesting to see so many farriers at work at the same time, and in such a fantastic location.”
“We have been horse enthusiasts for over 180 years, so we are extremely happy to be associated with World Horse Welfare as we both share the same passion and commitment for the better of the horse” says Hans Mustad, CEO of the Mustad Hoofcare group.
